The University of Pittsburgh chose Moshier Studio to renovate several
floors of the existing Student Union, located in the Oakland Neighborhood
of Pittsburgh. Pitt's Student Union is located in the former historic Schenley Hotel, which was first renovated for Pitt's needs in 1981. In addition to several small projects for Career Services and the Office of International Students, Moshier Studio has recently designed several floors to support new Student Life goals.
The new 6,300 square feet recreation room, named 'Nordy's' by the students, meets a need for a large gathering and performing space, and provides an alternative to the 'bar scene' for students. It contains lounges, a smoothie bar, multi-player gaming simulators, pool tables, stage and dance floor. New HVAC and lighting systems meet energy requirements while updating the look and performance of the area.
The Cross Cultural Center is located on the completely renovated sixth floor and provides offices and gathering spaces for many student organizations. The renovated eighth floor houses all student government organizations.
